Pleasant Prospect Farm's Summer 2020 Hunter Pace
Friday, June 19th - Sunday, July 5th
4389 Jennings Chapel Road, Brookeville, MD 20833
If you joined us for our first event, The Socially Distant Hunter Pace - thank you!
This is a separate and distinct event with ALL NEW COURSES - Please join us AGAIN :)
What is a Hunter Pace? It is a Team activity of up to four (4) riders, riding over typical hunt country (through trails, fields, some stream crossing, up and down hills) and, if over fences, those fences consist of logs, coops, and some rail fences; with all courses being ridden at a typical pace one would find in hunting field (a mixture of walk, trot, and canter for optimum time).
Our hunter pace consists of five different classes: (1) Optimum Time Flat Class - approximately 3-4 miles over our beautiful property in Western Howard County, MD; (2) Optimum Time Low Jumps - jumps not to exceed 2'6", over approximately 3-4 miles; (3) Optimum Time High Jumps - jumps not to exceed 3'6", over approximately 3-4 miles; (4) Junior Optimum Time Flat Class (same flat course as class 1, but at least one team member must be under 18 years old); (5) Junior Optimum Time Low Jumps (same low jump course as in class 2, but at least one team member must be under 18 years old).
Optimum Time is a time pre-set by our mystery course rider, designed to simulate riding to hunting hounds.
The mechanics and the rules are as follows:
1. Instead of being a one-day event spread out over a couple of hours, Pleasant Prospect Farm's Summer 2020 Hunter Pace will be spread out over 17 days (could end up being more if the demand is there), beginning Friday, June 19th and ending Sunday, July 5th, with preassigned time slots.
2. Teams will register online, select arrival time slots, and pay online. There will be no interaction with a secretary on site. After registration is accepted, please print a copy of the waiver (attached here) and email it to [email protected] OR print and bring a copy with you to deposit in the DROP BOX near the trailer parking area.
3. Only one team will be allowed on the property at any given time.
4. Teams can register for as many slots as they wish.
5. Teams cannot arrive before the designated arrival time, and the must be off the property within 90 minutes of their assigned arrival time.
6. Self-Timing & Honor System: after completion of a round, each team will submit a form (which they will find in their emailed packet) with their classes' times. Optimum time only classes.
7. Results will be available no sooner than 3 days after the last ride, and will be posted on Pleasant Prospect Farm's Facebook page and website. Six ribbons awarded each class. Appointments can be made to pick up ribbons; ribbons will not be mailed.
